MetaDesign wins three red dots for Babylon, Entega and Younicos
At this year’s red dot: communication design award 2009, MetaDesign won three red dot awards for excellence in design quality. The jury of high-ranking experts honored the successful exhibition campaign “Babylon. Myth and Truth” for the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin as well as the brand looks for the energy provider ENTEGA and the solar power specialists Younicos.
Altogether 6,112 works from 42 countries competed for the coveted design prize, of which 470 were winners.
The red dot: communication design award is one of the most important international design competitions; as a seal of quality it is highly respected far beyond the design community. The official award ceremony will take place on 9 December 2009, and all winners will be on display in the “Design on stage – winners red dot award: communication design 2009” exhibition in the red dot design museum in Essen from 10 December 2009 until 10 January 2010.
MetaDesign’s award-winning projects were:
“red dot” for the exhibition campaign “Babylon. Myth and Truth”
The appearance of the Babylon campaign, unusually striking for an archaeological exhibition, provoked the viewers by comparing reality and myth. The eye-catching imagery used in the communication media, especially for the four posters, and the slogan “Babylon was not Babel” played with the contrast between the real Babylon and the mythical ideas engrained in people’s minds. The exhibition surpassed all expectations by attracting over 500,000 visitors to Berlin’s Pergamon Museum between 26 June and 5 October 2008.
“red dot” for the ENTEGA corporate design
ENTEGA, the sales arm of HSE, distributes exclusively green energy products and provides C02-neutral electricity from non-nuclear sources. With its new look developed and implemented by MetaDesign, ENTEGA shows its colors and takes a clear, distinct position in the market environment. Multi-sensory marketing and advertising starting in October 2008 turn the brand into an experience, its assertive design and playful light-heartedness communicating a clear message both inside the company and out: ENTEGA. Energy for the next generation.
“red dot” for the Younicos corporate design
Younicos is a joint venture of Solon Laboratories and I-Sol Ventures GmbH. The newly founded company stands for autonomous, CO2-free energy solutions such as innovations in the field of power generation and storage or ideas for products for portable CO2-free energy. The company needed not only a name, but also the development and implementation of an identity and brand to create a high-impact brand world. MetaDesign worked with Endmark to develop the name, coined the slogan “Let the fossils rest in peace.” and created the brand look and sound. Since June 2008 the corporate design, sound, 3D and interactive branding have turned Younicos into an experience both inside and outside the company, communicating the confident look of a new brand.
